Non-Soundtrack Halloween Spins.
Happy Halloween BARC!
I always like to take advantage of spinning specific albums for holidays. On April 20th, for example, one may put Maggot Brain, From the Mars Hotel, and Dark Side of the Moon on the turntable. On St. Patrick’s Day, a 1988 LP by R.E.M.. You get the point. So, this Halloween I decided on three spooky LP’s to help celebrate the holiday.
AFI / All Hallows EP: This one feels pretty self-explanatory. Recently, Davey Havok looks like he’s sporting a Tom-from-Blink 182’s-First-Date-video costume - Google both and you’ll see what I mean.
Gatecreeper / Dark Superstition: This album cover is giving 1987 haunted house ride at the state fair vibes. There’s also plenty of guttural vocals, that I love, but can sound like a ghost trying to hock up a loogie.
Death / The Sound of Perseverance: Halloween and death metal go together well and Death rules! Deep cut connection; at this time Richard Christy was playing drums in Death, and if you were/are a Howard Stern listener, you’d know Richard’s favorite holiday is Halloween. Nailed it.
Be safe, check your mini snickers for drugs, and see you at the meet up on 11/16 at Amoeba!
