What is BARC

Hello. My name is Jesse.

I live in Emeryville, CA and I am a huge fan of music. I have a record collection that is taking over my condo, and I care way too much about my stereo. I love spending hours digging through bins at my local record shops, discovering new music, talking about music, and making time to connect with others who also share this hobby. For years I have searched for a record collecting group in the Bay Area and found nothing. So, my aim for this club is to build a community of awesome people who have a deep respect for all types of music, backgrounds, and above all are kind to each other. This club will meet regularly to visit local shops, grab something to drink and discuss our come ups, and even host some special listening sessions at member spaces. I am stoked for what this becomes and the people it brings together!

You may also notice there is almost no social media connected to this group - that’s intentional. Spinning a record is an analog experience and so is getting together IRL and digging through bins, and sharing and discussing the LP you just picked up. You gotta disconnect to really connect, or something along those lines. Tell a friend, make a flyer and post it at your local shop, talk to the stranger next to you at Amoeba and let them know there’s a club for that.
